Gerard Maas received his Master degree in Computer Engineering at the Universidad Simón Bolivar in May 1997. August in the same year he starts in Alcatel Bell as intranet application developer. In April 1999 he enters the Online Services Group at the Alcatel Research Center, focusing his efforts on the application of Java XML and RDF in service adaptation, representation and communication. He presented the results of these studies in Xtech 2000 and XML World 2000 conferences. His paper on "Java2 Policy Negotiation Between Mobile Intelligent Agent Platforms Using XML/RDF " was presented in JavaOne 2000. Early in 2001, Gerard takes the rol of senior developer for the "Personalized Service Selector", a J2EE based system that positions onto the xDSL provisioning, allowing the network operator to hook into the value chain of the broadband provision by delivering service selection and enabling bandwidth on demand for a series of applications (Video on demand, online gaming, bandwidth "boost" for downloads, ...) In May 2003 he takes up a new challenge as expert SW engineer for the "Web Integration Server", an ambitious project that integrates existing network products from the Alcatel solution portfolio into a J2EE platform, allowing the creation of new corvengent services. His recent work on the integration of telecom applications in J2EE was presented in JavaOne 2004. |
