Emmanuele Sordini took his degree in Computing Engineering in 1997 at the University of Genoa, with a master thesis in operations research and discrete event systems. He is presently working as a Software Architect and Software QA expert in the field of railway automation. Emmanuele has a strong technical background in multiplatform application development (C/C++, Java, distributed computing) and software lifecycle management. He has been interested in Java since its early stages up to the latest advances; lately, he has also been leading a CMMI-based Process Improvement project. He is also a member of the JIA (Java Italian Association) and of the JUG Genova.
Since the early 1980s, Emmanuele has been an avid amateur astronomer: in addition to being a member of several Italian astronomy clubs, he runs his own astronomy-related website http://www.bloomingstars.com with many technical articles and pictures taken and processed with his own setup. Emmanuele is currently interested mainly in igh-resolution multi-spectral planetary imaging and in the development of highly specialized astronomical software applications, especially in the field of real-time controllers and image processing. Last but not least, he also is an avid "eclipse chaser".
