Intro to Apatar, an Open Source Data Integration and ETL Project on Java with a Twist of Flex
Abstract
In this session, Alex Khizhnyak, Apatar Evangelist and co-founder of Belarus Java User Group, will explore how the community of Java developers are building the first Web-based data integration project called Apatar. Alex will demonstrate how Java meets Flex technologies and explain an impact of computing and storage in the clouds. Alex will demonstrate how anyone can easily link information between databases (such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle), files (Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, CSV/TXT files), applications (Salesforce.com, SugarCRM), and the top Web 2.0 destinations (Flickr, Amazon S3, RSS feeds) without writing a single line of code. Alex will use a real-world case study to show how a reference organization is using Apatar, Java-based open source data integration tool, to accomplish and schedule one-time or recurring data transformations previously considered too difficult to implement. Finally, Alex will give details on how user-created scenario and meta data are stored using JCR (Java Content Repository).
